Closing out the year….

2015treeDid December happen??

I think it did?  I started out the month doing a kitchen cabinet job….completed a few custom jobs, somehow got my house decorated baking done, and all my shopping by December 25th!

December 26th I started working on the basement studio!!! Finally, after living in this house for a year I’m ready to turn it into a REAL life, open to the public, working studio!!!  I’m GIDDY!!!

studiobeforeThis photo was taken on August 4th, 2013…that is me standing in the workshop area of the basement on the day we first came to look at this house!  The day I started dreaming of having my very own heated and air conditioned workspace.  I had officially outgrown working in our 2 car garage year round.

In the past year I have done TONS of custom projects down here and this space has enabled my business to grow more than I could have imagined.  I’ve been very blessed this past year!

I’m closing out the last few weeks of 2014 working diligently to prepare this space to open up to meet with clients, work on projects and host Studio Nights and other events for YOU!  My goal is to provide you with a creative space to come and be inspired in and work on your own projects and share with others….or just hang out and drink wine!

2015 will also be dedicated to Kitchens.  I will be hosting monthly workshops for those of you who want to paint your own kitchen cabinets.  I will also be doing one kitchen a month for clients and will feature these monthly on the blog!

I’ve also been asked by the folks at Urban Compass to participate in a blogger project called Starter Stories.  Urban Compass is a super cool new website designed to connect those looking for NYC Apartments to their perfect place and neighborhood based on their personality.  I like the concept because your personality really does determine the dwelling and location of your dwelling that is right for you….whether it be in NYC or in the middle of a corn field!

Phew…that is a lot going on for 2015…but I’m ready!!  I leave you with a sneak peak of some things going on in the official Hueology Studio

Working the Work Shops!

Last week we rocked a serious amount of Chalk Paint® at Total Bliss!
We started last Sunday with a packed full {smile!} Chalk Paint® 101 Class.  Look how brilliant Antibes looks in my photo!  I upgraded to newly remodeled PicMonkey and I’m still trying to navigate my way around it, there is so much to choose from filter wise, etc.
Anyway….
We did 2 sessions of Work Book Club last Tuesday.  One at 10 am and another at 6 pm.  We did some serious mixing and recording of color in our Annie Sloan Work Books.  I gave each member an assignment….they had to custom create a signature color and record it on a sample board and name it!
We came up with some pretty combo’s….I hope to get a blog post up with all those!  My very favorite was French Linen and Paris Grey mixed together at a 1:1 ratio!!
We ended the week painting and stenciling old wooden trays!

I ended the week feeling so blessed that I met all these wonderful ladies who came to attend my Work Shops!

Annie Sloan Work Book Club

We hosted our first Work Book Club meeting at Total Bliss a few weeks ago!  Check out the Asian Style Colors!

Who says you have to use a paintbrush to paint with?
We got messy with our fingers as we worked with the bold, deep rich hues in the Asian Style Group.
We also talked about how to mix color and how to add Old White to any of these colors to get lighter versions of the original color.
One of our favorites was adding Old White to Arles to get a lovely softer yellow!
Everyone left SUPER excited about our next Work Book Club Meeting!

February 12th at 10 am and at 6 pm!
